What are the relevant factors that determine the effect of stone polishing
The effect of stone polishing generally depends on two aspects. One is the polishing technology used, which is the acquired external cause, and then the inherent internal cause of the stone itself.
If you do not consider the internal factors of the stone itself, as far as the polishing process is concerned, there are only a few main factors that affect the polishing of the stone, that is, the type of Polishing agent, polishing liquid, polishing paste and polishing abrasive, polishing disc and polishing process parameter.
Although the polishing agent is a special polishing material, the difference between it and the grinding material is mainly manifested in the processing mechanism. In principle, low-hardness micropowder materials can also be used as polishing agents. But usually the high hardness polishing agent is better than the low hardness, and the application range is also wide. Diamond polishing powder can achieve satisfactory polishing effect for most stone polishing.
Generally speaking, water is a commonly used polishing liquid. It can play the role of grinding and cooling, and can also be used as a medium for physical and chemical action in the polishing process. However, if the polishing of the stone is mainly based on mechanical grinding, such as diamond powder, the polishing liquid is generally better with oil-based organic liquids, such as sewing machine oil. Its cooling, lubrication and dispersion are also excellent.
Then there are the polishing process parameters. The process parameters include the concentration and supply of polishing agent, so the pressure and linear velocity during polishing. Before it is less than a certain concentration value, the polishing speed will increase as the concentration of the polishing agent increases. Then, when the concentration value reaches the maximum, if the concentration is increased again, the polishing speed will instead decrease to a certain extent. Similarly, when the supply amount of the polishing agent is at a certain value, the polishing speed is the largest, then if the supply amount is continued to be increased later, the polishing speed is reduced instead.
Properly increasing the pressure during polishing can increase the polishing speed. Once the pressure is too large, the grinding effect is strengthened, which is not conducive to the formation of a glossy surface. The polishing speed depends on the rotation speed of the polishing disk (tool), but because the linear speed is too high, the polishing agent will be thrown out, resulting in waste.
The quality of the previous process and the roughness of the stone surface, if you consider the internal factors of the stone itself, such as the mineral composition of the stone material, it is mainly manifested as the process characteristics of stone polishing. Different minerals should use different polishing agents.
